A cataract operation can be life-changing.

After surgery lasting just a few minutes, someone who thought they would never see again can regain their sight - and their independence.

Ahmad was blind due to cataract in both eyes. Unable to work, he relied on his wife to support the family and became very frustrated.

Now, thanks to cataract operations on both eyes, he can see again.

Santosh had been having problems with her vision for over a year before attending a screening camp held by one of Sightsavers' partners. There, she was diagnosed with cataract in both eyes.

As a mother of three, Santosh had found it increasingly difficult to look after her family; cooking and household chores became challenging and she had come to rely on others for help.

After her cataract operation, Santosh returned to her family, relieved and happy that her sight was restored.
