Trachoma is an infectious eye disease which affects millions of people in Africa and Asia today.

Repeated infections scar the eyelids and lead to trichiasis. This is where the eyelids turn inwards and the eyelashes scrape against the surface of the eye causing incredible pain. It can eventually lead to permanent blindness.

Your gift could provide an operation to stop the pain and prevent blindness for someone - before it is too late.

"If I did not have the surgery I would go blind" 65-year-old Glades Simo, Uganda

Lasoi had been suffering from trichiasis for a long time.

Before the surgery, her lashes were scratching across her eyes causing terrible pain. To relieve the discomfort Lasoi would pluck out her eyelashes with tweezers, but they always grew back, causing more pain.

After the operation Lasoi was delighted. It will make such a big difference to her life to be free from pain. She will be able to look after her family.

"After the operation I am back to my life. I am back in business" 40-year-old Lasoi Marangwai, Kenya
