"For me, playing games with my friends and enjoying my studies with clear vision are the greatest things in life now that I can see well again."
Manoj Kumar, Pakistan

£17

Spectacles are one of the simplest ways of improving the lives of people with poor vision in the developing world.  Many people are 'blind' just because they lack a pair of spectacles and they simply don't have access to such essential items.  Often people are unaware just how much their vision could be improved with a pair of spectacles, so the cost of this gift includes the cost of carrying out eye tests in poor and isolated areas and supplying ten pairs of spectacles.

Imagine spending years with poor vision and having it corrected in moments with a simple pair of spectacles!

Manoj Kumar from Pakistan was six years old when he had his sight corrected with a pair of spectacles, allowing him to return to school.

This gift can provide a clearer future for ten more people like Manoj.

Sadaf form Pakistan kept silent about the fact that she could not read the writing on the blackboard for almost two years. For her, it was quite challenging to maintain her good grades and interest in the education.

Sadaf is the fourth of seven siblings that include four brothers. Her father does piecemeal labor in a local fruit market. Her mother contributes in the income of the family through embroidery and sewing work. Sadaf is learning these arts too, so she can help her family earn money in the near future.

During school screening, funded by Sightsavers,  Sadaf was diagnosed with being longsighted, and she was provided with spectacles.

To start with it was quite difficult for her to adjust to this change. She thought her face was looking big and as a result, she was reluctant to use them.  However, Sadaf desperately needed the spectacles to enable her to see the blackboard clearly and to do her homework.

"I was unable to read the books, things were less visible and my confidence was being lost each day", she mentioned while sharing the experiences of her poor sight with us. Now she wears her glasses to school and her friends encourage her to use them.  Sadaf is much more cheerful now her sight is better.
