Low vision telescope for a child

Low vision telescope for a child
"My telescope helps me to see in class and helps with my reading"
Adolf, Tanzania

£9

A child with low vision can really struggle in school if they don't have suitable aids to help them see the board or read textbooks.   A simple telescope can help a child to keep up with the rest of the class.  It's essential that all children get an education and having the right low vision aids can give a child with sight problems the best possible chance of succeeding in school and going on to lead an independent life.

Adolf from Tanzania loves school now that he can see better with his telescope. Before he had it he really struggled with his reading and writing.

This gift can help another child learn.

Adolf from Tanzania has albinism which affects his eyesight.  He has low vision, but despite having very poor eyesight he loves to play games during breaks and particularly enjoys football.  Adolf plays in the school band and is a confident happy child.  Adolf has had special low vision devices for just over a year which have really helped him in class.  Before having his telescope he struggled to read the board and had trouble with his writing.

Adolf's father, Joseph says that when he realised that Adolf had sight problems he was very anxious and felt unsure what to do about it.  He was pleased when he discovered that Adolf could go to the local school to learn alongside sighted children.  Adolf receives extra time with the teachers if he needs it and his low vision telescope has really helped him learn.  His father says "he is a lot more confident, happier and has lots of friends - just like the other kids."

He hopes Adolf will continue to do well at school and go on to marry and get a job.
