An ophthalmoscope is an instrument used to examine the eye. Its use is crucial in determining the health of the retina and spotting problems early on.
Mary Atem, from Cameroon, is being examined with an ophthalmoscope. Although she could see well last year, it was becoming more difficult. She was diagnosed with cataract in both eyes and has an operation scheduled to remove these.
This gift could help someone in the developing world to see again. Thank you.

Anthony Tambe from Cameroon is in primary school class two and has been brought to the eye unit by his family.
The doctor has examined Anthony using his ophthalmoscope, and determined that Anthony has a cataract in his right eye and will need to have an operation to remove it.
Anthony’s vision is tested and he is referred for surgery. The eye unit where Anthony was diagnosed is open every day, even at the weekend, identifying patients with various eye conditions.
This gift could pay for an ophthalmoscope to help diagnose a wide range of sight problems and help provide appropriate treatment for more people.
