"I’m very happy with my new eye."Sarala Sundaram, Rajasthan
£6
An artificial eye, can be a wonderful gift, helping someone to regain their confidence and lead a much more normal life.
Sarala Sundaram, from Rajasthan in India, lost vision in one of her eyes after having chicken pox. Four years later when Sarala was around five years old, her eye became infected and it was removed.
It wasn’t until Sarala was aged 11 that she was identified for an artificial eye after a Sightsavers screening programme visited her school.
Sarala explained ‘I’m very happy with my new eye. Everyone else has two eyes, and now I’ve two eyes too."
The gift you’ve been given can help provide two artificial eyes, which will go to help people in the developing world like Sarala. Thank you.

Eight-year-old Ayesha is from Mohmand Agency, in Pakistan. When Ayesha developed an abnormal white reflection in her right eye, she was referred to the Sightsavers supported Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar.
On examination it was found that Ayesha had an unexplained mass in her left eye. After a head scan the mass was found to be cancerous and it was decided that the best treatment was to remove Ayesha’s eye.
An artificial eye was placed in the socket and a conformer which helps to keep the shape of the eyelid was put in place. Ayesha has to go back for chemotherapy but with the financial assistance of Sightsavers International, hopes to make a full recovery.
